Hiking & Trekking

Whether you like to walk for hours on the beach, trek from village to village on small tracks and between the rice paddies or overcome the challenges imposed by Mount Agung or Mount Batur – hiking is probably the best way to explore the ‘real’ Bali.

Villa Bossi’s central location on the beach in North Bali makes it the perfect holiday residence for occasional and experienced hikers.

The list of hiking opportunities in North and Central Bali are limitless but here are some of the highlights:

  • Get on the beach at Villa Bossi, walk for hours along the borders of the Bali Sea and immerse yourself in the simple but authentic life of Balinese fishermen and farmers.
  • Get up in the very early morning and trek for 2 hours to the top of Mount Batur (1,717 meter) before sunrise to witness the spectacular view over the still active volcano, Danau Batur lake, the peaks of Mount Agung, the distant sea and even Mount Rinjani on neighboring Lombok. At the summit, enjoy a unique breakfast of baked bananas and hardboiled eggs cooked in the natural heat belching from the belly of the volcano! After the trek, visit Kintamani and its large and colorful market held every 3 days.
  • Nature enthusiasts will enjoy trekking through the tropical rainforest that borders Danau Buyan and Danau Tamblingan, close to Munduk and Bedugul. Temples and hillsides are covered by jungle, fruit trees and rice paddies. Waterfalls tumble off the precipices by the dozen. Trekkers may see deer, black monkeys and squirrels. From the lakeside it is possible to arrange to be rowed across the tranquil waters by one of the local villagers in a traditional double canoe.
  • For guests visiting Ubud on a day trip from Villa Bossi, we highly recommend one of the walks through the rice paddy fields.
